Emotional Opportunities
Focused on individuals as identities, this framework shares 2 approaches and explores different emotional values.
Focusing on emotions can highlight opportunities and undiscovered spaces that require attention. Two approaches to explore such opportunities for any identity can be via:
1. Suppressed Emotions
Suppressed emotions want to be-
recognised ⏩ made visible ⏩ and expressed.
They’re like buried nuts, waiting to be unearthed. Our alter egos are usually a good compass that shows where, which suppressed emotions lie.
2. Contrast Emotions
Duality and contradictions are fascinating because one side lacks depth without the other. If sadness didn’t exist relative to happiness, happiness wouldn’t feel that great. So if in a particular context a lesser emotion (like fear, shame etc) is prevalent, then there is space for a contrasting, greater emotion (confidence, growth etc) in the same context
